It was all a dream ☁️ ✌🏾
Honoring those who came before us, celebrating the beauty of our culture and keeping their memories alive. 🕯️🌼💀 This Día de los Muertos, I’m looking back on such a special experience walking the runway for @ilacatrina at @theshopsatlacantera in San Antonio! 🇲🇽✨ I had the honor of portraying Chalchiuhtlicue, the Aztec goddess of water, rivers and lakes, representing life, renewal, and the deep connection between nature and our ancestors. Every detail of this beautiful Catrina carried meaning and being able to bring her to life on the runway was something I’ll never forget. What made this experience even more special was seeing how art, fashion and tradition brought so many people together. From the runway to meeting and connecting with everyone afterward, it was a beautiful reminder that Día de los Muertos is so much more than a celebration. It’s about love, remembrance and honoring the stories that live on through us. ❤️ Thank you @ilacatrina for allowing me to be part of something so meaningful and for keeping these beautiful traditions alive. Feliz Día de los Muertos! 🌼🕯️ #diadelosmuertos #sanantonio #catrina #runway #dayofthedead

These are actual conversations from my journey from Kanyakumari to Dibrugarh. And the way some men say these things so casually makes you realise just how deeply this mindset is normalised. And this is exactly why feminism is necessary. Because no woman should have to fight for the basic right to make decisions about her own life.
