Here are 3 things to NEVER do in the first few seconds after your dog starts barking at another dog. ❌ Don’t yell “quiet” or “no” over the bark. To your dog it sounds like you’re barking too, so it adds noise instead of help. Stay quiet and create distance first. ❌ Don’t freeze and hold your ground. Standing still lets the bark build. Turn and walk away calmly while it’s still the first bark or two. ❌ Don’t reach for the treat bag once they’re already going. Have a treat in your hand before you need it, and feed the moment your dog even glances at you. Your dog isn’t being bad. Barking is the only tool they have when a dog shows up too fast or too close. Skip these three and you’re already helping. Save this for your next walk 🙌 Comment “bark” and I’ll send you more information on my Barking Walk Survival Kit that I used with Charlie!
