Ready for what tomorrow brings 😤
PMKN SZN 2026 -> OVER Good long month. I’m tired but still working. Wish I was planning and preparing for another season (the fields need cover crops!) but … alas. Seeing the folks that come every year is awesome. Ronnie (previous post) is a very welcome face every morning in October. I could and would keep doing pumpkin season and more, but speculative property owners will speculate, and the messiness of doing business and farming is not always the most profitable (in fact rarely). Even if it can pay the bills, some folks will always want more. But it is rewarding nonetheless. I personally value the community, land, water, and family that this place has allowed to flourish despite currents in the opposite direction. There’s a quality of personality required to do this that not everyone has, which is fine, but it’s closer to selflessness than capital ambitions — “planting trees that you’ll never see the shade of”. What is the future if not good soil and community I’ll still prune, mulch, and care for my trees while I can. Hopefully I can see them for another spring. Thanks to all that came out this year!
@andystottmlove marches back into the club, subs cranked. Around 2012, worried he’d run out of ideas, Andy Stott called his old piano teacher, Alison Skidmore. It sparked a creative reinvention that produced the seminal albums Luxury Problems and Faith In Strangers. These days the word “pop” is often attached to Stott’s music. His RA Mix, however, stripped almost entirely of vocals and melody, is about as far from pop as it gets. Made up of 12 unreleased productions, RA.1063 opens with his familiar heavy footfall. From there it’s industrial steppers all the way, the odd hi-hat cutting through chugging sub bass. It’s the kind of rhythm you can picture a whole crowd moving to in unison, pushing deeper into a vast, dark space. Listen via the link in bio.
Decades later, it was time for a change. Chuck Billy 2027. Do we love it?!
