13 days agothis is an elite mentality, itโs easy to say that when youโre at the top, when youโre a 25 handicap still learning Iโm wanting to compete, itโs disheartening
18 days agoThe handicap system is fine as long as you have a league structure, especially for weekend stableford comps, club champs have always been stroke play, so the lower handicaps have a better chance to win. Set handicap leagues are the way to go scratch - 9, 10 - 20 and so on.
18 days agoRubbish, what youโre saying is cheaters are ruining golf , donโt play with cheats or bandits as we call em, and get your club to sort em out . I play with 15 or so mates, all different handicaps from plus to 18 and we congratulate each other on a win each week , different winner most weeks, all put cards in weekly. Without handicaps the scratch or 1/2 handicap is going to win the money every week . Handicaps keep the field level. We wouldnโt play for anything if there werent handicaps and it would get boring. Cheats and bandits will and have always been a part of golf but theyโre not the masses . The masses are decent minded golfers. Scenario for you , if Rory or Scottie were your Saturday mates would you be playing them for money week in week out ?
18 days agoGolf is the only sport, where you donโt need a technique at all and still can win tournaments with hortible shots. And a handicap has nothing to do with being a good person.
21 days agoAs an above par golfer, I agree ... For tournaments... However handicaps are what makes golf amazing, so having specific tournaments for everyone is important, if it's a major tournament, everyone would be off scratch
23 days agoBro golf is NOT the only sport in the world with a handicap where a lower hcp player can be beaten by a higher hcp player. ๐ Scratch to 5 hcp is such a small percentage of players. You won't be playing with anyone else in a tournament. This whole argument isn't well thought out my friend. Stop entering those tournaments and play with the big boys then and stop crying about it.๐
