Systemic racism and entrenched against Kurds in Turkey continue to represent a profound, state-sanctioned human rights crisis driven by deep-seated cultural paranoia and aggressive nationalist hostility. The Turkish political establishment and radical nationalist factions exhibit an extreme, irrational fear of everything Kurdish—a psychological phobia so intense that even public displays of colors resembling the Kurdish national flag are systematically targeted, banned, censored, and criminalized in public spaces and sports venues. This institutionalized discrimination does not stop at Turkey's borders; it extends globally, attempting to suppress, harass, and intimidate successful Kurdish public figures who achieve international recognition in sports, arts, and politics. A prominent and ongoing example is the relentless online abuse, targeted harassment, and orchestrated nationalist backlash directed at German-Kurdish professional footballer Deniz Undav, whose athletic achievements routinely trigger toxic smear campaigns by extremist trolls. Furthermore, inside Bakur (Northern Kurdistan), Kurdish artists, social media influencers, civil activists, and public figures face severe intimidation, arbitrary police detentions, heavy judicial harassment, and direct threats of long-term imprisonment or forced exile simply for expressing their authentic Kurdish identity, speaking their native language, or advocating for basic human and cultural rights. This systematic political censorship, state-sponsored repression, and constant hostility clearly expose a fragile political establishment terrified of Kurdish freedom, cultural resilience, and independent success everywhere. . . #kurdistan #كوردستان #kurdmusic #stuttgart #kurdish . . Our 2026 Holiday Card is one of the most beautifully complicated things we’ve made all year. It was inspired by a vintage tunnel book (also known as a peepshow book) commemorating the Silver Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II, which I’ve had in my book collection for decades. Our version is a love letter to the garden and all her gifts. Inside are a dozen layers of foliage, flowers, and plants from the Estate. Each one began as an original oil painting by the remarkable @_johnreagan which we then carefully photographed and reproduced. Every layer was meticulously die-cut and assembled by hand into an intricate paper accordion. What begins as a flat little card opens into a miniature world, with the garden unfolding layer by layer. Huge thanks to John for being such a big part of our year. And to Joey on our team for calculating all of the folds. And to our friends at @likelyus for their paper engineering and extraordinary patience. So happy to finally send these little gardens out into the world. X Richard
