This is true. Whenever he enters the room I automatically switch my language and somehow try to translate to him what they're talking about so he can somehow join in the convo. ๐

Teach him the basics just to build a connection. Some foreigners who live in the Philippines document and film their progress in speaking Tagalog --its far from being perfect but when the locals see you making an EFFORT to connect, they will acknowledge that and welcome you. Its also a way to show your respect to your partner's culture.
