I Was Not a Great Husband Because I Watched Too Much P%rn — Comedian Chris Rock Opens Up About Past Addiction American comedian and actor Chris Rock has opened up about his past p%rnography addiction, admitting that the habit contributed to his failure as a husband during his 20-year marriage to his ex-wife, Malaak Compton-Rock. Rock made the revelation in a GQ interview published on Tuesday, November 3, where he reflected on his personal struggles, 2016 divorce and the journey towards rebuilding his life. Speaking about the 12-year gap between directing his films Top Five and Misty Green, the comedian explained that his divorce, financial challenges and efforts to get his life back on track contributed to the lengthy break. “I got divorced. Nobody has a successful divorce, so that takes time,” he said, adding that he had to rebuild his finances through stand-up comedy tours. Reflecting on his marriage, Rock admitted, “I was not a great husband,” partly because he “watched a lot of p%rn.” He further disclosed that he stopped watching p%rnography about five or six years ago, saying, “I don’t watch p%rn anymore. I haven’t watched p%rn in five, six years.” The entertainer also acknowledged that he was not proud of his past behaviour but described it as an experience he had to go through. “I tested my powers. I definitely realized I wasn’t God or anywhere near him, and I was severely humbled, as I should have been,” he said. Rock had previously discussed his p%rnography addiction and infidelity in his 2018 Netflix comedy special, Tambourine, where he explained how the habits affected his marriage and left him sexually desensitised. The comedian and Malaak divorced in 2016 after 20 years of marriage. They share two daughters, Lola Simone, 24, and Zahra, 22.
Howie P with a Jeep Cherokee, the Ford Bronco, the Hellcats, yeah, I had a lift it up red Jeep Cherokee with 33 or 35 inch tires, the Rancho kit, the big bumper, then I have my Jeep Wrangler. I drove to work every day in my gym, got there at 4 AM, left at 9 or 10 PM, 6-7 days a week for 25 years . That was my personal training life, and in between I worked on 39 companies that just didn’t make it. That’s how it works. You just gotta keep pushing, believing, you know, by training people, inspiring people, helping people my whole life. That just helped push me along, believing myself, because helping others empowers you. That’s Howiedoit It’s a Rolls-Royce day. It might be a Rolls-Royce week. Voice to text, let’s fucking go
