Ryan Vahey

I am thrilled, honored, and emotional to be performing a sound piece that was composed with @kyle.luntz and @simonaprives at the @whitneymuseum tomorrow.

It has been almost a year since so many of us lost our studios, work, belongings, and memories in the Red Hook fires. It will take years to fully process that loss, but the opportunity to perform alongside my friends Kyle and Simona—with a piece that responds to the exhibition we lost in the fire, just three days after it opened—is an incredible way to begin understanding how to move forward. My studio of 14 years was also destroyed in the fire along with most of the instruments used to compose many of the original sound pieces.

The piece will be performed alongside @citizenbong work, which responds to her own journey through loss following the Altadena fires and @mrphil incredible sound piece that accompanies it.

Thank you to @mrphil , @citizenbong , @megansheuer , @tara_walters, @poppyneedham_ and the entire team at the @whitneymuseum for inviting us to be part of this. It means more than I can say
