The Wrong Rom-Com was my first experience of Lulu Dawson's writing, and I can already tell it won't be my last.

I listened to the audiobook, and the narration was absolutely perfect. It completely drew me into the story and added so much personality to the characters, making it impossible not to become invested in what was happening. Thank you to Netgalley and @Bolindaaudio for the early access!

Without giving away any spoilers, The Wrong Rom-Com is funny, heartwarming, and full of charm. It had me laughing, rooting for the characters, and, at times, feeling so sorry for Matt (poor Matt!). It strikes a lovely balance between humour and heartfelt moments, before delivering exactly the kind of ending every rom-com (with morals!) deserves.

One of the things I enjoyed most was the friendships woven throughout the story, from new connections to those that had stood the test of time. Rachel's friendship with Anna was a particular highlight for me. She's the definition of a ride-or-die friend: fiercely loyal, unapologetically herself, and an absolute badass - reminded me of my own best friend who I am forever grateful for. We could all do with an Anna in our lives, I'm so very lucky that I have mine. That said, there were definitely moments where I wished Rachel had been a better friend to her, which made their dynamic feel all the more realistic. I did find myself wanting more from some of the supporting characters, including Anna and Rachel's mum, who both felt like they had stories left to tell, and I would have loved to spend a little more time with them.

Overall, this was such an enjoyable audiobook and one I found myself looking forward to getting back to every time I pressed play. It was uplifting, genuinely funny, easy to listen to, and left me with a smile on my face. If this is a glimpse of what Lulu Dawson's books are like, I'm already looking forward to reading more.

Good narration makes such a difference with an audiobook doesn't it?
