Taking the Fear Out of Fitness 💪

When you’re living with Stage 4 cancer, exercise can often feel overwhelming.
Many people worry they’ll do more harm than good.

This is why our weekly @brightonhovesecondarysisters classes mean so much to us.

It’s not about lifting the heaviest weights or being the fittest person in the room.
It’s about moving safely, rebuilding confidence and proving to ourselves that cancer doesn’t define what we can do.

Led by the amazing @danceyertitsoff who has experienced breast cancer herself and is a fantastic PT!
She’s had over 30 years of experience working with adults and children with disabilities and life long illnesses.
Every exercise is adapted to how we’re feeling on the day, and on occasion that might not be a lot, but that’s ok!

I approached Cas for help after struggling to find a program that worked for me and because I kept injuring myself!
We went about setting up these classes nearly a year ago, and I absolutely love them!

In these short clips you’ll hear us talking about why these sessions matter so much.
Yes, they’ve helped us become stronger physically, but they’ve also done something just as important for our mental health.
Plus they’ve given us friendship, confidence, a lot of laughter, and a space where we don’t have to explain ourselves or feel self conscious.

If you’ve been afraid to exercise after a cancer diagnosis, I really hope this encourages you to have a conversation with your cancer team about what’s right for you. You don’t have to do it alone 💗

Sometimes the biggest step isn’t lifting a weight, it’s walking through the door! 💪

Note: Always speak to your cancer team or healthcare professional before starting or changing an exercise programme, as everyone’s diagnosis, treatment and circumstances are different.

Absobloodylutely brilliant, Ducky, and @danceyertitsoff is a phenomenal teacher🤸🏼‍♀️🚴🏼‍♀️🏃🏼‍♀️‍➡️🧎🏼‍♀️‍➡️ I just wish she could divide herself, and come up here to Derbyshire🤷🏻‍♀️ After breaking 4 spinal bones in Feb due to stage 3 Osteoporosis, which I didn't know I'd got😱 I've now lost 6 inches of height in 1 year alone😳 my back will not go straight anymore, and my Doctors said if I just sneeze loudly I could fracture my spinal bones or ribs🤯 so I'd love to know how to get my bones stronger and stop it hurting so much😣 any help would be appreciated 🤞🏼🙏🏼🤞🏼 Xxx🥰&🤗
