3 months agoofc keep practicing the spiccato, take it slow and make sure your wrist stays relaxed. i'd also play the non accented notes just a little softer so the accents come across more clearly. your intonation is actually pretty solid overall. there were a few spots where i felt the tempo slipped a bit, but that could very well just be from tension. for a first run though it was really good. i think the biggest thing holding you back right now is switching between articulation styles, so i'd spend some time working on making those transitions feel more natural. if i was on the audition panel, i'd also want to hear the détaché in measure 4 a little smoother, and i think the spiccato could be less v shaped and more u shaped. you might gain a little more length on the notes, but it'll let the instrument resonate more naturally instead of sounding harsh or killing the sound. try using a bit more bow rather than adding pressure in the spiccato because it'll get rid of a lot of the scratchiness and should also help reduce the tension. i also saw that the audition is on august 15 and i honestly think the brahms has the potential to be incredible by then. just a few things to tidy up and i wish you the best of luck.
