The installation of “Weight of History: Borne Across Borders” is now complete at Manly Art Gallery and Museum
@magamnsw, as part of the 2026 Northern Beaches Environmental Art & Design Prize.
During the installation, the curator asked me, “Why eggshell?”
For me, eggshells carry the memory of fragility and resilience. They remind me of the image of “雞蛋高牆” — the contrast between the ordinary and the powerful, the fragile and the unyielding. Like the many people who have little voice or power, the smallest can be vulnerable when facing forces much greater than themselves.
The eggshell fragments in this work are remnants from my previous work, pieces that have been walked over and crushed by people. They carry traces of encounters, histories, and lived experiences.

The opening is tomorrow, Friday 7th August at 6pm. Hope to see you there!
