2 months agoThere are exceptional mothers who formula fed and abusive mothers who breastfed. One decision, one struggle, does not define any mother. Health is complex and influenced by so many things, and lots of those studies were probably based on older formulas which were less regulated than those we have today. It doesn’t sound like you “chose” to formula feed. It sounds like you “chose” to do everything to breastfeed and when it was causing you harm you “chose” to prioritise your mental health for your son. That’s the choice of a wise and loving mother, under difficult circumstances. Imagine we asked a group of babies which they’d prefer: a joyful mother formula feeding them or a miserable mother breastfeeding. I know what I’d choose. I chose to push through and am exclusively breastfeeding at 7 months, and I am proud of myself. But some of the smug and superior posts lately for world breastfeeding day have not resonated with my values. We should be supporting each other with humility and solidarity. We will all have areas of struggle and areas of strength. ❤️
2 months agoThankyou for sharing this😢 i've been in so much guilt for not being able to give my baby enough breast milk
2 months agoSame situation plus husband told everyone saying that i too lazy to pump, then i was rolling my eyes said i the one who wake up every few hours feeding your baby, do you think i have time pump and feed ? Unless i not sleeping. But anyhow you re not alone, alot people out there facing the same situation❤️ just listen to yourself
2 months agoThank you for this ❤️. I may not be exclusively using formula right now but all of this is what I've felt as I've had to navigate my own breastfeeding struggle.
2 months agoAt first i use formula because my baby dont want latch and my breastmilk is not come out until 4th day. Then my baby get diagnose milk allergy, its like double sword inside my heart. Slowly i produce breastmilk but never enough for my baby. Until one day i feel so broken, and suddenly my baby latching. But i feel so obsessed feed my baby breastmilk, and i broken again because every session of pumping only give me 40ml while my baby drink 60ml. Now i find peace at my heart. And think carefully, when i use bottle i can exactly know how much my baby drink but DBF can not. So i still mixed formula for my baby ❤️
2 months ago“If i couldn’t find the space to fully embrace the joy of having him in my life — the joy of motherhood — how was i going to give him the best of me?” - hits hard! I love this line💯 thanks for sharing your journey~ you’re the best mom and you’re doing great!💖
2 months agoOhh, thank you for this! I am 2 months postpartum, and I’ve been mix-feeding because my milk supply is not enough for my baby. I used to feel like a failure as a mother because I couldn’t exclusively breastfeed him. But I know I’m doing my best for him, and that’s what matters. ❤️ Hugs to all the nanays! You’re all doing an amazing job. 🤗💕
2 months agoThis is so powerful. I’m 2 weeks postpartum and still struggling with pumping breast milk for my baby. At first, I planned to breastfeed him until he was 6 months old, but lately I find myself crying almost every day because of the pain and lack of sleep. I’ve been thinking about gradually stopping pumping and transitioning my baby to formula, and I know people may have questions or comments about my decision. But at the end of the day, our health and our lives are what matter most, and we have the right to make the choices that are best for ourselves and our babies. You’re absolutely right—we don’t owe anyone an explanation. ❤️
2 months agoTruly resonate with this heart touching story! Thank you for sharing and giving this beautiful awareness to all mothers out there including myself. ❤️🙌
