ROWDY MV🥊OUT NOW ON MY YOUTUBE “ROWDY” is more than just a song to me. It’s an anthem of female rage, empowerment, unapologetic strength, reclaiming your power, and owning every part of who you are. As someone who has always been a passionate advocate for women, I wanted to create something that celebrates the power of taking up space, making noise, and understanding that sometimes causing a disruption is necessary to create change. Crime used to be so out of control in Caracas, Venezuela’s capital, that Miguel Dao, a professional kidnapping negotiator, was hired to secure the freedom of three different captives in a single day. But it’s been three years since Dao has had a single kidnapping to negotiate. The homicide rate in the city has plummeted in recent years, and kidnappings, both extended high-ransom cases and “express” abductions lasting about a day, have all but disappeared. Different factors — some the stuff of nightmares — drove Caracas’s security gains. Read the full story, which is available in English and Spanish, on the city’s sharp decline of crime and the atrocities committed to get there at the link in our bio. Photos by @adriana.loureiro
