The 30-year-old striker was rushed to intensive care after suffering a horrific collision with Andorra goalkeeper Jesus Owono. The incident occurred deep into stoppage time, forcing the league match to be abandoned with the score tied at 2-2. Tenerife had announced De ​Miguel's condition had worsened overnight, with the forward passing away this morning. Owono was initially given a red card for the challenge before the referee decided to abandon the fixture.
