I finally sat down and added up every single cost that went into getting my BASI Pilates cert 🫣

I feel like this topic isn’t talked about enough so here’s the full breakdown!

- BASI Comprehensive Course: $4,500
- BASI Interactive for 5 months: $50 (basically a library of videos showing how every movement/spring setting is taught)
- Test out fee: $250
- Privates & semi privates to get my practice hours in: $1,520
- Gym membership for ~10 months (this is how I got access to apparatus for the rest of my hours): $1,490
- Misc stuff like printing notes, binders, flashcards, pens: around $85
- Gas and food for trips to Newport for privates, I went probably 10 to 15 times: didn’t track this exactly but it added up

AND FOR THE TOTAL 🙊 It ended up being around $8,000

A couple things to note!!
- I got SO lucky that my gym let me use their reformers since they weren’t being used at the time, a lot of studios charge $25 to $50 an hour for equipment access which would’ve added a ton more
- This total varies so much depending on where you live and what program you choose, this is just my personal experience!

If you’re thinking about getting certified and have questions lmk 🤍 orrr if you’re wondering what my experience was completing teaching/practice hours

@valsanchez.pilates I didn't realize you could test out for mat/reformer before comprehensive test out! Can you talk about that in your video? Thanks!

🔥truth sister! I did basi too and was so lucky to have scored home apparatus from a liquidation company and get an apprenticeship at a local studio. Between the home lessons and studio pay I would say I broke even. Our basi host studio gave us 1 year free practice time

Thanks for sharing. We recommend people checking out their local colleges to see if they have programs. So many great Pilates certification programs at community colleges.

Which gym were you able to get access to the apparatus? I’m in LA as well, but I’m training through Balanced Body

I’m getting my Pilates teaching certification but through my local community college where it’s free the only thing I needed to pay for was the training material which total was less than $500. the semester long pilates classes are for 12 weeks 2x a week and also free. They even have a “job fair” where local Pilates studio come to network and offer free training and class observations. It is more time consuming but a cheaper route ☺️
