Resilience has many faces—and behind each one is a story the world may never fully see
At only 16 years old, Allie faced a battle no teenager should ever have to confront: cancer. That photograph captures her in the middle of that fight—still smiling even as her world was being turned upside down.
Cancer did not define her future. Allie survived, rebuilt her life and became the extraordinary force she is today.
My journey has looked different. I have spent my life living with Multiple Hereditary Exostoses and have undergone 28 surgeries. But Allie and I share an understanding of hospital rooms, physical pain, uncertainty, recovery and the conscious decision to keep moving forward.
We do not have to explain resilience to one another—we have lived it.
That deep, unspoken understanding is the foundation of our friendship, and it is also why we work so well together in business. Allie brings a survivor’s determination, focus, loyalty and emotional intelligence into every room. We trust each other, challenge each other and share a vision for turning what we have endured into something meaningful.
