September 5th Chile 🇨🇱
Repost from @ridetrustchile 🙏

Is our sense of community in the backcountry misplaced? Are the people around us in the mountains potential allies in a hostile environment or mobile hazards? My closest avalanche calls over the last couple of seasons have been from other riders cutting in above me…
As the backcountry ski scene continues to grow and riders with limited avalanche knowledge and skills fast track themselves into big consequential terrain aided by high performing equipment and social media beta, how should we manage these hazards?

When I'm in the BC with clients the number 1 issue I have is them skiing directly at me, stopping above me and generally ignoring the basic safety requests. It's infuriating and many of them do it regardless of their age or ability.
