JUST TWO NOTES? 🤔
Did you know that one of the most terrifying motifs in film was created with just two notes? 🦈🎬 When John Williams played the main theme for Jaws for Steven Spielberg on the piano (E - F - E - F...), Spielberg thought it was a joke. He couldn't believe that such an absurdly simple melody could be the heart of a blockbuster.
But Williams understood something fundamental about film scoring: music doesn't describe the monster, it generates a sense of threat in the viewer's mind. That accelerating rhythm simulates a rising heartbeat, creating claustrophobia without showing a single drop of blood.
The lesson here is brutal: you don't need an ultra-complex melody to create an unforgettable sonic identity. Sometimes, the simplest idea, executed with the right intention, is the one that stays with us forever in popular culture.
