We got to trick-or-treat with @hasandpiker and these are some takeaways: We need to abolish ICE, tax the billionaires, and block the bombs We need to stop gentrification in Lincoln Heights We need to protect and expand our public housing in Chinatown We need to get creeps out of Congress Los Angeles, vote by November 3rd
Maheka, so many of us think about helping. You keep showing up and actually doing it. Year after year, you make your MCAN fundraiser bigger, more beautiful and more meaningful, raising funds for underprivileged cancer patients at Tata Memorial Hospital. Behind every amount raised is someone waiting for treatment, a family struggling to afford medicines, and a chance to ease their burden. This year must have taken a different kind of strength—your first event without your mum. I’ve seen Aunty stand so proudly in your beautiful creations, cheering you on every year, knowing the purpose her daughter was working towards. Missed seeing her there. I’m sure she would have been so proud of you. Such a lovely evening with my chhote papa, Vipul, Tosti, Mamta, Prerna and Jatin—laughing, giggling and watching so many people give so generously. It felt even more special knowing what that generosity could mean for someone battling cancer. Congratulations, Maheka, and thank you for making us a part of this every year. May God bless you and your family. Came home with a full heart and so much respect for you.

BREAKING: HOLY SMOKES! Democrats now control enough states to potentially abolish the Electoral College through the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact. Republicans did NOT have this on their bingo cards… Under the Constitution, states control how their electoral votes are allocated. Currently, almost every state awards all its votes to the statewide winner. This allows a candidate to win the national popular vote but lose the presidency. Small states like Wyoming have disproportionate influence. Wyoming has 3 electoral votes and 577,000 residents, while California has 54 electoral votes and 39.5 million residents. A Wyoming vote is effectively 3.8 times as valuable. Since 1992, Democrats have won the national popular vote seven out of nine times. Under the National Popular Vote compact, participating states agree to award their electoral votes to the national popular vote winner, regardless of which candidate wins their individual state. The compact takes effect once participating states control at least 270 electoral votes. So far, 18 states plus D.C. have joined, totaling 222. We need just 48 more! Democrats now have an opportunity to make that happen: * Wisconsin: 10 electoral votes. * Pennsylvania: 19 electoral votes. * Michigan: 15 electoral votes. * Nevada: 6 electoral votes. 10 + 19 + 15 + 6 = 50. 222 + 50 = 272. That’s enough to activate the compact! If Democrats also hold their lead in the Arizona Senate, the total could reach 283. Beyond correcting an imbalance that favors Republicans, this would fundamentally change presidential campaigns. Instead of concentrating their attention on a handful of swing states, candidates would have incentives to campaign nationwide. Voters in traditionally safe red and blue states would finally matter just as much. States have until July 20, 2028, to join in time for the next presidential election. We can fix our democracy. The time is now. Please like and share if you support this idea!
