My favorite time of year to get out and target Mangrove snapper! Here is the key:
Long leader 15-20lb fluorocarbon
Drift your bait with the chum

A rod that is light enough to feel the bite but strong enough to pull whatever bites in
My setup is a 7’6” MH @templeforkoutfitters Blue Bight or in the IntraCoastal series. A long 15lb fluorocarbon leader and 20lb @cortlandline Master Braid with a 2/0 @bkkhooks_americas hook. This rod and method has landed countless snapper as well as everything from tuna and big grouper that decide to bite instead.
