If your lower back is feeling tight, try adding some spinal mobility into your routine 🤍
Spinal mobility can be key to unlocking that tight feeling in your lower back — the better your spine moves as a whole, the less one area has to compensate or take on all the movement.
These are 3 of my favourite ways to get the spine moving, progressing from beginner to more advanced:
1. Cat cow — a great place to start. Move slowly between flexion and extension, focusing on moving through the spine one section at a time rather than forcing the range.
2. Standing cat cow — the same idea, but standing allows you to explore a little more range while still focusing on controlled movement through the spine.
3. Spinal waves — this is all about articulation and control. Think about creating a wave through the spine, moving one section at a time rather than moving everything as one unit.
You don’t need extreme flexibility to have a mobile spine. Start with the first variation and progress from there 🤍
