I am 27 and I am hesitant to admit that…
1. I don’t have it all figured it out. As much as I have worked hard, there is so much that I still need to work on to build the life I anticipate having. I have gotten degrees, diplomas, recognitions, hard skills and a great resume. Yet I still find myself struggling with certain soft skills that I hope to allow life to teach me as I grow.
2. I don’t own a house, a brand new car, or have the career I dreamed of. Though I am very blessed to have a home, a car that can drive me anywhere, an amazing & rewarding job, a supportive community and a family that has got my back for life. & more importantly I have the presence of the Lord with me at all times.
3. I have not settled and I never will. I have constantly found myself starting over due to matters beyond my control. Trying to always stay positive and keep my mind on God as He directs my steps. While working hard to keep growing and developing as a woman who has big dreams and is very ambitious.
4. I dream of having my own family every day. I want my person. I want to get married. I want to have children. I want to build a home and take care of mine. I pray constantly for these things. While I trust God deeply, I also find myself questioning why it hasn’t happened yet. Is it the time? Is it the place? Is it me? Is it him? What is going on?
5. I have a vision, a plan, and many desires. However, I am ignorant of what the future holds. I think. I desire. I write. I pray. I work and I trust God. Because many are the plans in a (wo)man’s heart, but it’s the Lord’s purpose that prevails. But I keep working!!
By this time, according to my plans, I would’ve had my dream career, a husband, my dream house, 4 kids, a few dogs and some horses 🤭 But instead I have an empty canvas and the best artist rewriting my story, & I wouldn’t have had it any other way.
Thank you Jesus!
