An 18-year-old girl is fighting for her life after being shot inside an Annapolis residence Monday evening. A juvenile was detained at the scene as authorities work to determine what happened. The shooting was reported shortly after 5 p.m. on November 2 at a residence in the 900 block of Royal Street. Responding officers discovered the young woman with a gunshot injury to her head. Emergency responders from the Annapolis Fire Department provided immediate medical assistance before she was transported by helicopter to a nearby trauma center. As of the latest update from police, the victim remained in critical but stable condition. A juvenile boy was taken into custody at the residence. Police have not released his identity or provided details about his possible involvement in the shooting. Investigators are working to establish the circumstances that led to the gunfire. Authorities have not announced any charges or disclosed a possible motive. The investigation remains active.
Can hardly believe it but I’m back at work tomorrow after 4.5 months of getting to know this lil girl!!! A few from maternity leave before we’re back to regularly scheduled programming…🥹🥲
“Ncheta” The Remembering🧡 Amazing collection by @weizdhurmfranklyn
There is something extraordinary about ‘Mother Mary Comes to Me’: the way Arundhati Roy holds the contradictions of a woman who could be both a force of nature and a source of deep hurt. Mary Roy was a formidable feminist who challenged the world and carved out a place for herself, yet the same fierce, uncontained spirit could wound those closest to her. Arundhati writes of her with a startling honesty that neither diminishes her mother’s achievements nor conceals the wreckage left behind. What emerges is an inheritance of extraordinary complexity: a daughter shaped by the very person she has struggled to understand, carrying both her mother’s fire and the scars of its burning. The memoir asks what it means to love someone who has hurt you, to recognise their humanity without denying your own pain, and to live with the knowledge that tenderness and cruelty can inhabit the same person. It is a portrait of motherhood, memory, rage and resilience, and of how the private lives behind public triumphs are rarely as simple as the world imagines. Perhaps its greatest achievement is that it makes room for a woman to be a revolutionary and a deeply flawed mother, and for a daughter to tell the truth about both.
