Today was the slowest marathon I’ve ever run & it’s the one I’m most proud of.

I’ve never wanted to quit a race more. My legs were done at mile 14, I *tried* to quit at mile 19 but I’m not sure how to? I walked into a medical tent & they just gave me a Tylenol & Vaseline on a stick, so I kept going.

Then I got a text (2nd slide) from my 9 year old (via my wife) and I decided I was going to finish even if I had to walk the rest of the way. The video in slide 3 is me telling him at mile 22 he’s the reason I’m still running.

Somehow I was able to get running again & finished with a smile on my face.

I am so grateful for my family. I am so grateful for New York City and I am so grateful for everyone who took a moment out of their day to cheer me on. Apologies if I miss anyone here! Democrat Gina Hinojosa secured victory over three-term Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, the Associated Press said, a stunning flip in the country’s most populous red state after more than three decades of Republican leadership.

With 67% of the expected vote counted, Hinojosa had 57% to Abbott’s 42%.

Hinojosa, a 52-year-old lawyer and state representative, began her race as a Democratic longshot against a governor known for his political prowess and formidable campaign war chest. But she gained momentum from voter dissatisfaction with Trump administration policies and the economy under Republican leadership.

Hinojosa surprised many Texas political observers by gaining on Abbott in polls ahead of the election, despite being vastly outspent. Her polling raised Democrats’ excitement in a state where they had not won a statewide seat since 1994.
