NCLB isn't the problem its the shit parents they're not teaching their kids at home that's why they want the school to do all the work it should be required each kid know the basics of kindergarten before being able to enter hold the parents accountable

You cant learn the proper way to say a word just reading it. You can usually figure out what the word means but reading doesn't tell you how to pronounce it. Some words you don't know if your saying it right until you hear it. Understanding what a word means and pronouncing it aren't the same thing.

It wasn’t NCLB, which didn’t enact social promotion. That was enacted in 2002. We had strong academics for an entire generation after that. The decline started around 2013 and accelerated during covid, we have the actual metrics.
