Today should have been your 13th birthday. Instead, four days ago, on August 18th, I had to say goodbye to my little ride-or-die. And my heart still doesn’t quite understand that you’re not here.
Almost 13 years of you by my side. Four little legs that followed me through every season of my life.
You were there for the hikes, rivers, lakes, pools, creeks, shopping trips, bar hopping, vacations, road trips, new houses, new vehicles and all the random adventures in between. You were there when I brought my babies into this world. You were there through the chaos, the changes, the good days and the hard ones.
You saw every version of me. You knew all my secrets. You were there for things no one else was there for. You were just...always there. ❤️
And those birthday parties of yours? Absolutely one for the books. 😂 You may have been a little dog, but you sure lived a big life.
I’m grateful beyond words that you aren’t suffering anymore, but knowing that doesn’t make missing you hurt any less. My mama heart is broken.
Today, instead of celebrating 13 years with you, I’ll be celebrating 13 years of loving you, knowing you, and being lucky enough to call you mine.
Life is going to be a little less special without you, Zoey.
Run free, sweet girl. Go find the biggest creek, the best swimming hole and all the adventures you can get yourself into. I’ll find you again someday. ❤️
