A little look at what feeding my daughter looks like these days. 🤍

Our feeding journey has looked different at almost every stage.

When she was a baby, we were incredibly fortunate to have a wonderful mom provide breast milk to us. I also pumped for her for nine months, but due to the stress I was not able to pump enough for her. (There is not enough support and education for women about breast-feeding, but that’s a whole other topic 👀)

After she turned about a year and a half, we started learning how to give her real food through her G-tube.

And honestly?

It was a BIG learning curve 🤪

I had no idea how much there was to learn about blending meals, getting the right consistency, making sure she was getting enough nutrition, and figuring out what worked best for her.

But little by little, we figured it out.

Today, we blend real, whole foods for the majority of her nutrition. She also eats by mouth, which I am incredibly grateful for, but because of her swallowing complications, she still needs the majority of her calories through her G-tube—especially liquids.

I’m incredibly grateful that we have the ability to feed her this way. And I’m sharing this because I remember how overwhelming those early days felt.
