JWALA — A Bold New Malaysian Tamil Action Thriller
Malaysian Tamil cinema continues to welcome a new generation of filmmakers who are ready to experiment, take risks and tell ambitious homegrown stories. One of the latest projects to make its mark is JWALA, a 43-minute action thriller produced by @aetherlight_studio .
Written and directed by @vimalsivaraj , JWALA centres on Koba, a man who is determined to leave behind his violent past and build a peaceful life while raising his daughter, Maya. However, everything changes when Maya is kidnapped. Old rivalries, painful memories and unfinished vendettas begin to resurface, forcing Koba to return to the dangerous world he desperately tried to escape.
Blending action, emotion and dark undertones, JWALA explores themes of family, revenge, guilt, redemption and the consequences of one’s past.
The film features @baby_koba as Koba/Cobra, @logavarman as Loga, Tashvnie Jeyaraju as Maya and Preshant Menon as Blade. Behind the project is also a passionate young creative team who came together with the determination to showcase what emerging Malaysian talents are capable of achieving.
JWALA held its Private Screening & Appreciation Night at TSR Cinemax, Shah Alam, on 22 August 2026, giving invited guests an opportunity to experience the film on the big screen and celebrate the efforts of its cast and crew.
More than just another independent production, JWALA represents the growing confidence and creativity among young Malaysian Tamil filmmakers who continue to explore new ideas and push themselves towards bigger possibilities.
Congratulations to Vimalsivaraj Sivanathan and the entire cast and crew of JWALA on bringing this ambitious project to life.
