Long before the building became a public library, it was home to one of Chicago’s most unusual and talked about drinking spots. Known as the Midget Club, the tavern attracted plenty of attention and became a popular destination for people looking for something different from the city’s traditional nightlife. Now, rare footage offers a fascinating glimpse inside the bar and the atmosphere that once made it so memorable. The footage comes from I Married a Munchkin, a film by Chicago filmmaker Tom Palazzolo. His work documented everyday life and some of the more unusual corners of the city, preserving scenes that might otherwise have disappeared from public memory. This particular footage gives viewers a chance to see the Midget Club as it actually looked while it was still operating. The tavern eventually closed after the city acquired the property and the building was cleared to make way for a public library. The decision became controversial among people who believed the establishment had a place in the neighbourhood and questioned whether another location could have been used for the library instead. Today, the footage serves as a reminder of how quickly familiar places can disappear as cities change and redevelop. Whether the library was worth the loss of the tavern is still an interesting question, especially for those who remember the Midget Club. Would you have saved the bar or supported the library?

Comment " Reach " to Claim this Reading ❤️‍🩹 Your person is missing you more than you think… There are moments when they want to text you so badly, but their ego stops them. They see something that reminds them of you, replay old conversations in their head, and secretly wonder if you still think about them too. 💭 They act like they’re fine without you, but some memories are hard to escape. The late-night thoughts, the little things you used to do, the comfort they felt with you… sometimes, it all comes rushing back when they’re alone. 🫂💔 And a part of them still wonders… “Do they miss me the way I miss them?” 🥹❤️ you haven’t spoken in days, things ended without the closure you deserved. Or you both still care, but neither of you knows how to break the silence. 💔 And somewhere in your heart, you keep asking yourself… ✨ Do they ever think about me? 🥹 Do they miss me the way I miss them? 💭 Do they regret losing me? ❤️‍🩹 Will they reach out, or is this really the end? WHIPLASH (2014) — Directed by Damien Chazelle, starring Miles Teller, J.K. Simmons, Paul Reiser, and Melissa Benoist. The film follows Andrew Neiman, an ambitious young jazz drummer studying at one of the most prestigious music conservatories in the country. Determined to become one of the greatest musicians of his generation, Andrew pushes himself beyond his limits in pursuit of perfection. His life takes a dramatic turn when he catches the attention of Terence Fletcher, an intimidating and brutally demanding music instructor known for his unconventional teaching methods. What begins as an opportunity to prove his talent soon becomes an intense psychological battle between a student desperate for greatness and a teacher obsessed with pushing people beyond their breaking point. As Andrew sacrifices his relationships, health, and peace of mind, the line between discipline and abuse, ambition and obsession, begins to disappear. Driven by extraordinary performances, relentless editing, and an electrifying jazz score, Whiplash transforms the pursuit of perfection into a nerve-racking psychological experience. A brutal exploration of ambition, obsession, sacrifice, and the terrifying price of greatness. TAGS: Whiplash, Whiplash 2014, Damien Chazelle, Miles Teller, J.K.
