There were endless afternoons of going to eat with him and then laying myself on his sofa all afternoon watching movies together, until he kicked me out.😌 We even spent Christmases together, just the two of us… We would buy ourselves sushi 🍱 🍣 and that was our grand Christmas dinner. (He loved breaded sushi). In his final years, we spent hours in his garden. He had a beautiful garden, one he had cultivated and cared for over many years. So many memories!…. And he always had the BEST attitude toward Life. ALWAYS! Never a complaint; for him, everything was about forgiveness and letting go. 🫶🏼🙏🏼 From the moment I was born, he welcomed me into his life as if I were his own blood, and he always gave me all his Love, Compassion, Respect, and Protection. The best Father I could have ever had. 🙏🏼 He knew EVERYTHING about me. I had his TOTAL support in EVERYTHING. Never a judgment. Never a rejection. Never a NO. My protector. He was my Rock. Pure Love, my Tatita. Just knowing that he existed and that he had my back, I knew I could take on the whole World. He loved pancakes, and for one of his birthdays I made him a cake… Today, August 24th, he would have turned 86…. He didn’t make it that far… He chose instead to become Eternal and Free… ✨😌✨ And I, from here, will forever honor his memory with everything he left within me.

Apart from everything else, we were neighbors. We were for many years, at different stages of Life… and what a Great Blessing that was, because it allowed us to be mutually present in each other’s daily lives. {This month, I have been so grateful that I came back to live in Tj… because that allowed me to be close to him during his last 5 years. 🙏🏼🫶🏼} Since I was a little girl, I loved going to visit him —overcoming every obstacle along the way— because we played board games, talked endlessly, and loved watching TV together. He taught me how to watch tv in English. 🙏🏼 We were lifelong fans of KPBS and old movies… We loved watching Bob Ross, Antiques Roadshow, André Rieu concerts, traveling with Rick Steves, gardening and woodworking shows, and cooking programs, starting with Julia Child. 👌🏼 Our favorite show: Lawrence Welk. We would playfully fight over our love for Anacani, the little doll. 🤭 Yes, we were rivals for our platonic loves… Anacani, the girl from the Channel 11 news, and, our favorite of them all, Shirley MacLaine. 🥰 [Then he would tease me about my girlfriends… 🤣🤣🤣 He was quite the Dandy! We had so much fun!] He loved gardening, cooking, old classic cars —he had several, and they were beautiful; I always complained that he never saved one for me— 😜, collecting coins, and his axolotl bills. And he never lost faith that one day he would win the lottery with his scratchers. ✨🥹

Él era “my Rock”.
