George Gikas-Rentzos

At 8.20am on the 25th of August 2026, Giorgos Rentzos, aged 64 (dob. 28/05/1962), passed peacefully and painlessly under the care of the ICU team in Athens. His long battle with emphysema caused by years of concrete and tile dust inhalation unfortunately was the end cause, leading to lack of oxygen and resulting in his body shutting down.

If I could describe my dad in a single sentence it would be "someone who had so much love for his children, animals, and art". He was someone who loved art, sketching and tattooing, loved to create beautiful patterns in tiling and was ever thankful to see his children healthy.

He had a love for animals and took better care of them then himself at most times. I remember his love for his dogs and birds, and how much he enjoyed seeing our cats run around when we would video call.

While our relationship was difficult, the last few years I am so thankful for him in my life and for him to have the strength to hold on until his children got to speak to him in ICU.

My love for art, my love for martial arts, motorbikes, cars, and softness in life is his impact and I am blessed to carry on his name.
