Marseille mix. Truly one of the best cities I've ever visited, when the heat dropped I walked compulsively, with the unrealistic urge to know every little square inch of the place.

The first thing that hit me was how much it reminded me of Saigon (and to a lesser extent, Da Lat). It took me too many hours for it to land that "likely thing for a French city to evoke a French colonial city 🤔" but it was eerie - not just the buildings and layout, but the smells, the chaos, the way the traffic moved, the light.

I also barely saw the sea, which seems like an oversight, but Marseille is so rich that I sometimes forgot it existed (and indeed, it took me 3 days to get anywhere near it).

À la prochaine, Marseille!
