Open Studio with Kylie McConnell and Josue Bessiake

August just flew by, and it’s almost time to say goodbye to our amazing AIRs, Kylie and Josue.
Stop by, meet these two very talented and special humans during this casual open studio event.
Kylie McConnell is a Kansas City-based visual artist working in painting and mixed media. Her work explores repetition, collage, and the many ways artists reuse and recycle materials and ideas in the studio. She received her BFA from the Kansas City Art Institute and is currently pursuing her MFA at Cranbrook Academy of Art.
Josue Bessiake is a first-generation Ivorian-American painter working across media. His work is influenced by his itinerant upbringing and his surroundings, often bringing together repurposed materials, destruction, and repair. He’s presented work at the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History, the New York Academy of Art, and the National Gallery of The Bahamas, and is a two-time recipient of a grant from the Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation.
Come hang out, see the work in progress, and give Kylie and Josue a proper Popps send-off. ❤️
