🔥🔥🔥NWA🔥🔥🔥2011 Seiko SKX173. New to Me as I indicated yesterday. The discontinued first ISO 6425 200M compliant automatic dive watch specifically produced as a North American market variant of the iconic SKX007. Differences between the two include rectangular indices and a prominent trapezoid marker at 12 o’clock as well as a lollipop seconds hand where the luminous meatball is at the pointing tip. In my first post for #militarywatchweek I asked what is a military watch. Seiko has a long history of military history and this watch was on my Navy SEAL friend’s wrist for 15 years of jumps, dives, and deployments. Modifications (himself) include replacing the Hardlex with a blue AR coated sapphire crystal and installing a black chapter ring. Then the watch was sent back to Seiko to ensure its water resistance. The bezel insert was replaced multiple times. Knowing what this watch has done, I considered it an honor I was asked if I wanted it. I consider myself more of a generational caretaker of the watch than an owner. Every now and then I whisper to the watch I am here to talk but the watch continues to live up to the reputation of the “Quiet Professionals”. But I know there are stories.
