Today, the Sialkot Readers Book Club took us on a fascinating journey into another era as we discussed Yesteryear by Caro Claire Burke.

The novel follows Natalie Heller Mills, a “tradwife” social media influencer who unexpectedly finds herself transported back to the 19th century, where she has to navigate life without the comforts, conveniences—and realities—of modern society. A clever blend of satire, suspense and social commentary, the book gave us plenty to talk about!

But today’s discussion came with an extra special twist! ❤️

To complement the book’s nostalgic journey into the past, we ended our session with a “Retro Food” one-dish party—and what a delightful feast it turned out to be! 😍

From an incredible spread of traditional desi favourites to recipes that brought back memories of simpler times, it truly felt like a delicious trip down memory lane.

I contributed misi rotis, homemade mango & lasoora pickle, and kaddu ka raita—a little taste of nostalgia from my kitchen. 🫓🥭🥒

A wonderful book, stimulating conversations, great company and a table full of food… what more could a #reader ask for? ❤️📖
