La Dolce Vita. 🤍🖤
There are places that hold stories, and then there are places that seem to hold secrets.
Villa Durazzo, perched on the hill of Santa Margherita Ligure, was built in 1678 by the noble Durazzo family as their summer residence. But long before becoming an elegant mansion, this place had a different story: a fortified structure once stood here, in a strategic position overlooking the sea.
Perhaps that is why the Durazzo family chose this hill: from here, the view could stretch endlessly across the Gulf of Tigullio, while the sea remained always beneath their eyes. The gardens were almost designed like a stage, with their historic citrus grove and carefully placed greenery guiding the eye from the sea towards the villa. 🌿🍋🌊
Centuries later, these rooms would welcome nobles, travellers and distinguished guests. At the end of the 19th century, the villa was even transformed, for a time, into a Grand Hotel, welcoming members of the international aristocracy.
And today, walking through these gardens, it is impossible not to wonder how many stories still linger within those walls… how many conversations, glances and dreams have passed through these rooms.
And it was here that I chose my black and white: an elegant dress covered in delicate polka dots, with a matching black-and-white scarf in my hair. 🤍🖤
A play of contrasts that, in this timeless setting, seemed almost to belong to the villa itself — a quiet meeting between elegance, history and femininity.
Because sometimes what we wear tells a little story about who we are: our love for details, our femininity, our simplicity, and that desire to feel special without ever needing to do too much.
I will remember this day like this:
a black-and-white polka-dot dress, a scarf in my hair, the sea before my eyes, and a villa that has been watching everything from the top of its hill for centuries. 🤍🖤
Perhaps this is the true charm of La Dolce Vita:
not simply living a beautiful moment,
but feeling, for a little while, part of a story that began long before us .
