Yeah I agree... I find it interesting that folks think Bachata is just NOW becoming popular... I always respond with Bachata has existed longer than the last two years you have been part of this dance environment. But I try my best to include what history and culture I have that makes sense when I DJ for dancers... But when I DJ for clubs and multicultural groups, that is when I can really enjoy my set to the fullest. Good points brother. 💯💯💯

Maybe for folks who didn’t listen to Bachata outside of socials your options were limited or the DJs were not well versed contributed to this creation. Mid 2000s to early 2010s had SO MANY artists making great fucking music. Again, studio dancers listen to what the DJs play and if they were not well versed or, primarily a Salsa DJ trying to maintain a Bachata repertoire, they would not have had the cultural knowledge or library of music. What the dance scene does and listens to is not indicative of music and dance on a global scale.

"Everybody were appreciating that kind of music"....except for non batateros that actually appreciate Bachata.

Man how I miss that era! As a versatile dancer who loves reggaeton, hiphop, house, Spanish trap, etc… being able to dance to those amazing songs in bachata is an indescribable feeling 😮‍💨🔥🫶 People who aren’t well versed in multiple genres of music and styles of dance won’t get it tho, and that’s ok.

Neither. But remixes are worse. Most remixes are awful. For every one that is good there’s 20 that name my ears bleed.

Just my opinion.... based on my observations and experience. Not an attack. But....Nobody in the culture appreciates that music. Salsa, bachata, merengue are not rap. The fact people in the scene don't know enough about bachata music allowed for this low quality music to spread in the social dance scene along with the artificial demand created by the sensual dance product. Gentrifying and pushing out the culture from these spaces. I can play bachata only sets without repeating a song 7 days straight. What this exposes is the fact that unfit people took charge of the studio latin dance scene and hired unfit Djs to play music for peope who don't know the music and culture enough to say "this garbage". You sound like someone that doesn't know all the bachata that was released those years. And I assure you it was a lot of bachata released between 2011 and 2015. And then you have all the classics, hits, well known songs with beautiful lyrics, sound, and sentimiento. Today we have artists who can't compete and are using the dance scene as a way to backdoor their way into the music business. They get streams but then can't draw outside of dance affiliated events. They need to let people from the Caribbean who do love the music dj more....to get the right vibe.
