It’s getting closer! ✨
What began with me rediscovering one photograph of my mother on her wedding day has grown into Linens & Laces, a photographic storytelling project exploring the stories Black women carry before, during, and beyond marriage.
I’m incredibly thankful for every woman who said yes to being part of this journey, and for all of the beautiful collaborations that have grown from it. 🤎
This video is from our shoot at American Beach. Everyone drove all the way out there and, of course… it rained. 😂 But we pushed through, laughed, created, and somehow the rain became part of what made the day so beautiful and memorable.
While Linens & Laces centers Black women, my hope is that it opens conversations among women from all walks of life about marriage, identity, tradition, womanhood, and even the complexities and oppression that can exist within the institution of marriage.
Behind the dress, the lace, and the celebration, there is always a story.
Now I’m excited to share some of those stories with you.
