Dawson was laying it on thick. Giving Joey the guilt trip. He was smug and condescending. Did he really think he was going to win her back? Btw, to win someone back is something you do when you made a mistake. To fight for someone you lost, not for someone that was yours in the first place. This was pure emotional abuse and in real life wouldn’t be tolerated. But since it’s a teen drama series, the writers figured this was a boy acting out his broken heart syndrome.

What bothers me the most is that both Pacey and Joey were in this together and Dawson accepted Joey back without question, but Pacey was not given the same chance. Pacey had feelings for Joey before Dawson even looked at her as more than just a childhood friend and he knew that. Should they have told him right away, yes, but it was only a week and then they went there to tell him. Pacey did not deserve to be outcast by everyone.

Im all for Joey and Pacey, I love them together. But the way they went about it, was absolutely so messed up and hurtful. I feel for Dawson. I've been him. 💔😞

This is why the fandom always makes me angry. Dawson was justifiably upset. His ex girlfriend who he still was in love with and his best friend not only were dating but kept it secret from him. He was CRUSHED. He had every right to feel the pain he felt and as much as I love pjo, they handled it wrong. Pacey asked Dawson for permission to kiss Joey in season one but didn’t go to him about his feelings in season three. It all could have been avoided. Then there’s the part everyone always leaves out - after Dawson heals his hurt (and after he moves on with Gretchen), he actually accepts them as a couple. They base everything on his reaction instead of what he might have been feeling and neglect the fact that he is okay with Pacey and Joey’s after time has passed and each of them repair what needed fixing in season 4.
