I loved the use of this quote throughout the book. It felt like a full-circle moment.

Nearly every Lisa See book I’ve read has been a 5-star read, unfortunately, this new release fell a little short.

The story felt like it dragged on for too long, and I struggled to buy into the friendship and bond between the three women at the centre of the story. Their relationship felt weak given how they barely knew each other and never saw each other.

One thing I always love about historical fiction is discovering little pieces of lesser-known history, and this book certainly delivered on that front. In this book, it was about the lives of Chinese immigrants in California in the late 1800s.
