BADLAPUR (2015)

Director: Sriram Raghavan
Cast: Varun Dhawan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Huma Qureshi, Yami Gautam, Divya Dutta
Genre: Crime • Thriller • Revenge • Drama

Raghu’s life changes forever when a bank robbery takes away his wife Misha and their young son Robin. The loss destroys him, but instead of moving on, Raghu spends the next 15 years living with one purpose — revenge.

One of the robbers, Liak, is eventually caught and sentenced to prison. Raghu waits for years, believing that killing Liak will finally give him peace.

But things aren’t as simple as they seem. Liak reveals that he wasn’t the one who killed Raghu’s family. As Raghu gets closer to the truth, his desire for revenge slowly turns into an obsession.

The story becomes a dark battle between revenge, guilt, forgiveness and humanity. Raghu crosses lines he once believed he never would, while Liak’s character shows that even a criminal can have moments of regret and humanity.

By the end, Raghu gets what he wanted—but revenge doesn’t bring his family back. Instead, it leaves him with another kind of emptiness.

Badlapur isn’t just a revenge story.
It asks one question — how much of yourself are you willing to lose while taking revenge?
