oh micah,
i never expected to lose you, im not sure what to do in a world without you. it was just yesterday we were sitting side by side at lunch and walking complaining about ap world. through this loss ive been so much more grateful to know you, which i wish i had told you before. i never said to you directly how much i love you or how glad i am to have you in my life, but i hope that you knew from the smile on my face every time we were together. i am so blessed to call you my sweet, hilarious friend. since the first time i met you in the side part days in 6th grade pltw, we clicked, and every time since then i saw you there was no doubt that you would fill that time with joy or make me laugh until my stomach hurt. even on my darkest days you gave them light, it’s so sad that you’re not here to do that now.

i’m not sure why this is a part of Gods plan, because you had so much life to live. everyday i loved hearing about your upcoming trip to LA and what clothes you were buying for it, or you talking about your first drive playlist. i would give anything for you to come back and experience those. i will never forget the countless memories and joys we have had together, and i’m SO happy we had them all.

i will see you in the little things in life, like the color blue or shopping or playing snake or the walk to lunch. i promise to always save you a piece of gum and have some extra food on hand. i will think back on the memories of french last year and sitting against the back wall every day and laughing while we messed around instead of actually doing formatives, or kicking your feet in ap world. i will miss you singing heartbreaker in my ear at lunch!! some of my favorite memories in life are with you.

finally, my micah, i love you so much and you will never be forgotten. you will live so so long within our hearts and your legacy will carry on for longer than you could ever imagine. i promise i will live every day to the fullest for you and to do all the things you wanted to, and i will always make an effort to stand up for what’s right and be proud of who i am. i love you my dear friend, always and forever. thank you for everything. 💙

Europe appears to be in revolt. That is the impression given by images of burning buildings and charging riot police beamed out of cities from Lisbon to Athens.

Yet by one estimate the number of protests is still smaller than what would be usual for Europe at this point in the year, as this chart shows.

For now most of the violence is still contained to just one country: France.

When it comes to protests, why are the French outliers? Tap the link in our bio to learn how their protests compare with those elsewhere in Europe.

Zac and I made the coolest costume for him! It was intense and complicated but so worth it!

Mortal Kombat - Scorpion, SubZero, Reptile, Smoke, Ermac, Rain, Noob Saibot - all in one!

How do you stop caring so much about what other people think? Practice ❤️

Quit caring about other people’s opinions and start focusing on your opinions about yourself … just listen to your own intuition and what you think inside 🔑

I hope this conversation with @melrobbins helps you take that first step 🙏

Send this to someone who’s been holding themselves back.

I guess we’re still fighting this battle because there are still window licking mutts out there that keep arguing that somehow a surplus will create more muscle growth, or that they grew more in a surplus and are now “250 where I was stuck at 220 before” and they are clearly FATTER at 250 than they were at 220.

Here is why you do not need a surplus to max gain!
*the caveat to this is that if you’re in single digits and don’t want to stay in single digits then yes, use a surplus to move up in bodyfat to something you feel is more sustainable.

1. You have usable fat on your body as a SURPLUS
You do understand that your body does not care if the energy to build muscle comes from the food you ate, or the fat on your body right?
It doesn’t discriminate between energy resources. And since most of you have bodyfat you can use (meaning you’re def FAT ENOUGH), then you can use that fat for the energy you need to grow.
“You’re saying you can recomp forever?”
As long as you have spare fat on your body then a pound of fat should be enough to fuel around 5 pounds of muscle. And since only about 20% of new muscle is actual contractile proteins THEN YEAH PRETTY MUCH.

2. You add muscle in tiny amounts, and it is not energy intensive
The last computational model that looked at this (it’s in a previous reel) predicted that adding 2 pounds of new muscle over 12 weeks (which is phenomenal progress for someone that is an intermediate or well trained), was about 41 calories a day.

3. Food is not a stimulus
For a surplus to have some kind of effect that maintenance doesn’t have then what you’d have to show is that net MYOPS is somehow GREATER in a surplus (MPS vs breakdown) than at maintenance with protein equated. Here’s a clue...that is never going to happen. The training drives the cellular response. Protein is just the raw material that is used for repair and protein accretion. Without the training stimulus this does not happen. No amount of food in the world is going to drive muscle growth. The training is the driver. Food is not a stimulus.
