There’s something powerful about hearing someone tell a story that feels so close to your own. 🤎

I had the opportunity to attend Tisha Campbell’s author talk for The A Word, where she shared pieces of her journey raising and advocating for her autistic son.

And while every autism journey is different, there were so many moments that felt familiar.

The advocating.
The learning.
The adjusting.
The celebrating things other people may not understand are HUGE.

The questions about the future.
And the kind of love that will make you figure it out—even when you don’t have all the answers.

I’m grateful to Tisha for being willing to share her family’s story so openly, because stories like hers create space for the rest of us to feel seen too.

But I also left thinking about all of the caregivers in that room—and everywhere else—quietly doing this work every single day.

The moms. The dads. The grandparents. The siblings. The families navigating appointments, therapies, schools, behaviors, milestones, setbacks, wins and everything in between.

Our stories may look different, but there is so much power in being reminded that we aren’t walking these journeys alone.

Thank you for sharing yours, Tisha. 🤎
And to every caregiver doing the work when nobody is watching: I see you too.
