This video shows how an Archerfish hunts using a unique technique. Instead of jumping, the fish shoots a powerful jet of water from its mouth to knock insects off branches into the water. It carefully aims at prey above the surtace, adjusts for light refraction, and hits the target with surprising accuracy. Once the insect falls, the fish quickly grabs it before anything else can.
Facts:
Water sniper - Archerfish can shoot water up to 1-2
meters with high precision ®
Smart aiming - They compensate for light refraction
between air and water to hit targets accurately O
Learning ability - Young archerfish improve their aim
with practice over time
Group hunting - Sometimes multiple fish aim at the
same prey, creating competition 4
5 Habitat - Found mostly in Southeast Asia and Australia in brackish/mangrove waters y
