Sen. Darline Graham suffered a stunning loss Tuesday in a race that President Trump pushed her to run, conceding to Democratic challenger Annie Andrews in a typically deep red state.

With 89% of the vote counted, Andrews, a pediatrician and gun-safety advocate, had 50.8% of the vote, to 47% for Graham. South Carolina hadn’t elected a Democratic senator since 1998, and Trump won the state by 18 points in 2024.

At Trump’s direction, South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster appointed Graham in July to the seat of her brother, the late-Sen. Lindsey Graham, for a term that expires in January.

The president and his aligned super PAC MAGA Inc. backed her in the primary to counter criticism that she was unprepared for the job or insufficiently conservative.

Republican groups supported Graham with tens of millions of dollars in ad spending for the general election, outpacing Andrews, who largely relied on her own fundraising.

This is what rest looks like after a hard day — not active rest 😅

Any experienced drag racer will tell you that a properly built rear end can make or break your entire performance. You need the right proportions, excellent balance, plenty of support, and enough strength to handle whatever power you’re throwing at it. It’s one of the most important components of the entire setup, and something true enthusiasts never overlook. Personally, I’ve always been a rear-end guy. Strictly from an automotive standpoint, of course.

The Belleville Three member has died 🕊️

A spokesperson for Greensmith Artists, the agency that represents the legendary Detroit producer, confirmed to RA that he was found unresponsive in his hotel room in Mexico City this morning, and later pronounced dead after being taken to hospital.

Born in Detroit in 1962, Atkins grew up in the nearby town of Belleville, where he met future collaborators Derrick May and Kevin Saunderson. They'd become known as the Belleville Three: a trio whose pioneering work in the early '80s helped establish the Motor City as one of electronic music's most important creative centres.

Atkins's influence extended well beyond his hometown. As Detroit techno found audiences across Europe, particularly in the UK and Germany, his productions helped inform a new generation of producers and DJs. His music became closely associated with the futuristic, machine-driven aesthetic that would shape the genre's development throughout the late '80s and '90s.
