After 23 years of goals, records and historic victories, Cristiano Ronaldo has announced his retirement from international football. The 41-year-old Portugal captain shared an emotional farewell video on November 5, bringing one of football’s most celebrated national-team careers towards its conclusion. “Portugal will always be in me,” Ronaldo wrote alongside the announcement. Reflecting on his journey, he said the time had come to hand over Portugal’s iconic No. 7 shirt to the next generation. His farewell focused on the people behind his career, from teammates and support staff to Portuguese supporters around the world. Ronaldo has scored 146 goals in 234 appearances for Portugal, holding the men’s world records for both international goals and appearances.
