Huge issue in the USA. I grew up in Australia and didn’t have any awareness of this issue until I moved to the US and started hearing horrific stories from women over here that went through the college system. The worst part - all the women who I heard stories from all shrugged it off as “the norm” and just something they have to live with as a byproduct of going to college which made me feel sick and enraged. Growing up in my friend circle in Aus it was common for women to get frustrated with us because we “wouldn’t initiate” as we were all raised to be extremely respectful of women and to never create pressure where women would feel uncomfortable. It’s hard to think women believe this behavior accounts for “most men” based on their experience. Yes a great percentage of men live unconsciously from the shadow masculine. Also important for all women to know there are many great men out there who only desire to protect and create safety for women. Note: Just my experience. I’m sure it’s more common in Australia than I had awareness of at the time.

Sounds like all of my male “peers” I grew up with 😵💫. Too many stories like this. the “prep” schools these guys went to prior to their ivy leagues are also all part of this too— the rituals, the grooming and conditioning of “boys will be boys,” and the V@tican influence with all this as well— start super early. in the dc area some of these schools are Georgetown prep, Landon, and gonzaga, and st albans. An example of one of these men who now holds a lot of power in the system is Br€tt K@vanaugh (a US supr3m3 court justic3 who was accused of s3xu@l ass@ault— he went to Georgetown prep and then Yale). So disgusting. Bigger awareness of this topic is def needed, as these men keep having this inverted power passed down to them generation after generation. thank you for sharing this Lauren!!

Not just Ivy League. State colleges, UC Berkeley in my circumstance. They are all culpable and they are all in the club...
