I’m BAAAAACK!!!
It’s really been almost a year 😳😳😳 since I’ve been able to get myself & my studio up and working. Between moving into our new home and my husband’s sudden medical leave from May to now, I’ve not been able to spend as much time IN the studio but never fear, I’m back and I’ve been making big plans. I have a LOT of projects in the works and a ton ready to start. That’s how I work. I work in stages. I tend to start a bunch of things at once and bring them all along at a relatively similar pace. It helps my logical brain be organized and less scattered-shot.
One thing I’ve spend the last year doing in also evolving my art to add in more of the “mixed” part of my mixed media artwork. I am brining in a lot of glass. That has taken the better part of this year to accumulate. Glass is $$$$$, but at so beautiful. I’ll be incorporating mosaics into my wood pieces as well as having pure mosaics. The funnest part of mosaics for ME will be that a good portion of it will be usable inside AND outside! I love art in my yard and in my porch. I just very rarely see exactly what I want so true to artist form, I make it myself.💪
I promised this before, but I now have the ability to do it, I’ll be making videos and time process reels of my process. If there one thing I find more valuable than gold, it’s artists and crafts-people sharing their processes. Demystifying how things come to be, IMO, shouldn’t be gate-kept. I can respect others not wanting to invest the time and effort it takes to share, but I’m not at all interested in being a gate-keeper. One thing I think helps people during this terrifying time is making things. It’s not just the things you make, but the processes that are enjoyable.
So here we start. I’m sharing 2 of the many substrates I have started for pure mosaics into pieces. I’d like to share each stage as I can and I’ll start videos when I have a better flow going.
Thanks for hanging with me! Most of you following have followed me for decades now from model horses and I have every intention of doing LOTS of ponies in my new work as well.
Have a great Autumn (or Spring for the friends in the southern hemisphere.
