“작업 과정에서 사용되었던 천이나 판재, 물감이 묻은 표면, 반복된 행위가 남긴 자국들은 역할을 위해 존재하지만 쓰임이 끝난 뒤 다시 바라보면, 오히려 목적에서 벗어났기 때문에 이전에는 보이지 않았던 새로운 표면과 무늬가 보이기도 합니다.
저는 그때 생겨나는 무늬가 삶의 모습과도 닮아 있다고 생각합니다.
삶의 무늬는 처음부터 계획해서 만들어지는 것이 아니라 살아온 시간과 경험, 선택과 흔적이 겹겹이 쌓이면서 만들어지는 것에 가깝습니다. 어떤 것은 지워지고, 어떤 것은 남으며, 때로는 오래된 흔적이 전혀 다른 의미로 다시 나타납니다.”

“Materials such as fabric and board used throughout the process, paint-stained surfaces, and traces left by repeated gestures are first created for a particular purpose. Yet when we look at them again after their use has come to an end, new surfaces and patterns sometimes emerge—ones that could not have been seen before, precisely because they have stepped away from their original purpose.
I think the patterns that emerge in this way resemble the shape of life.
The patterns of our lives are not something we plan from the beginning. Rather, they take shape slowly, layer by layer, through the time we have lived, our experiences, choices, and the traces we leave behind. Some things disappear, while others remain. At times, traces from long ago return with an entirely different meaning.”
